There's a lot of talk about taking pills or injections to lose weight, and during midlife when many women see their midriff expand, no one would blame them for reaching for an easy option. However, my personal preference is without medication because I believe we can get rid of menopause belly naturally.
The key is to understand that we have to change our tactics in order to do this. And that’s because the belly fat we gain in our midlife is as a result of a hormonal shift. So it’s not about burning fat or cutting calories like you’ve probably been told up until now. It’s all down to helping regulate your hormones as they decline during the perimenopause.

How do we regulate our hormones?
To regulate your hormones, you need to listen to your body and identify the signs and symptoms. Your body has a way of telling you about your current state of play. Any symptoms you may be experiencing in your perimenopause are indicators which can help you. For example:
If I asked you to stop and check in with how you actually feel I wonder what you would say.
· You might say I feel bloated.
· You might say I ache.
· You might say I feel overwhelmed.
· You might say I constantly crave sugar.
· You might say I have no energy.
All the above tells me that body is not in sync with your hormones and needs some lifestyle adaptations.
· Your gut might need some help.
· You might need to reduce inflammation in your body.
· Your nervous system might be in overdrive and need attention.
· Your liver might need support.
· Your body might need the right type of movement.
And if that’s the case then great! Let’s do it.
Because all of those symptoms (unless caused by a health condition) can be done with the right lifestyle changes, whether it be working on your nutrition, exercise, daily routine, sleep, supplements, stress management etc.
You just need to listen and check in with your body. Any symptoms will give you the chance to do what you personally need to do. And the specific actions and adaptations you then take according to your personal needs, could be really simple but really effective. And the total result, will reap big rewards including losing the menopause belly.
